Does anyone have fi warm up thermostat Chasing one of these The Entrance NSW 280se w108

W108 280SE FI warm-up thermostat brass small body in hand

Photo is the part as removed - small brass body with the rubber sealing ring and the locating pin at the top. Mine has lost the wax expansion and the engine is running rich on cold-start.

$$ for the right part.

Brent - the part you're holding is the warm-up regulator thermostat for the M130 mechanical injection (D-Jetronic warm-up enrichment).. its a wax-type expansion thermostat with a calibrated rate of opening - when it fails the warm-up enrichment doesn't taper off as the engine warms, which is exactly the rich-running symptom you're describing..

Mercedes-Benz part number 000 074 14 22. Bosch superseded part number 0 280 030 016. NLA from Mercedes-Benz Group, last batch sold through Mercedes-Benz Classic in 2009. Current sources:

  • JanesBenz Portugal (Paulo) - has 3 NOS units at €120 each. $195 landed.
  • Pelican Parts USA - aftermarket Bosch-spec at $89 US + freight. $175 landed. Quality is acceptable for daily use.
  • BERU/Behr equivalent via Niemoeller Germany - €68. Functionally identical, different stamping. $110 landed.

If you can wait 4 weeks the Niemoeller BERU equivalent is the best value. If you need it quickly Pelican Parts is 7-10 days. Paulo is the most expensive but the most original.

Billy bookmarking this. Will go Niemoeller, $110 landed is the right answer for me. PM if anyone's done the install themselves with photos, my workshop manual is a bit sparse on the warm-up regulator section.
