before i spend money.

Quick question on the public health order. mrs B and I have read the thing four times. Cant find anywhere it says I cant take the 380SEL to Kosta's for service.

Section 12 sub 4 says you can leave home for "repair, service or maintenance of a vehicle reasonably required". Reasonably required. Right?

The radiator has been weeping. Three drops on the garage floor Sunday morning. Mrs B counted.

Kosta is 47km from me. He's in a different LGA. Reading section 12 sub 4 again. Says nothing about LGA limits if the reason is vehicle repair. Lefteris is this right? You read more law than the rest of us.

Asking because if we are allowed I am going Saturday and bringing baklava.

Berny. Without giving legal advice. The order at clause 12(4) does refer to repair, service or maintenance reasonably required and does not impose an LGA radius for that clause specifically. Other clauses do impose radius limits for recreation and shopping.

"Reasonably required" is the test. A weeping radiator on a 36-year-old W126 that is your only vehicle and is needed for medical appointments etc. is a stronger case than a weeping radiator on a fourth car kept under a tarp for show purposes.

Carry the receipt from Kosta. Keep the trip direct, no stops at other members' houses on the way back. Police have discretion. Be polite.

So the W111 has been making a noise. Definitely a noise.

Reasonable to seek a second opinion from another Mercedes specialist. Two opinions actually. One Saturday one Sunday. Both 47km away.

Boys. I think we have something here.

The 380SEL has also developed an INTERMITTENT MISFIRE that only Chris_K can diagnose because of his unique experience with the M116.. mrs B is taking the call notes for the diary in case the constabulary asks..

I'll bring the baklava to Kosta's Saturday morning. Then I'll see Chris Sunday for the misfire diagnosis. Then I'll see Vasilios Wednesday for the door seal that has not been right since 2018.

Wednesday Vasilios? My car has been making a noise.

Berny.

I can hear the noise from here.

Wednesday is fine. Bring the car. I will have the diagnostic tools out.

I will also be free Thursday. And Saturday. And the following Wednesday.

BRO..

Also.. if we are all driving everywhere for "repairs" can someone drive to Auburn for a "valuation". I have a client who needs a W126 looked at urgently and the LGA boundary has been making me weep into my coffee.

Vehicle pre-purchase inspection. Section 12 sub 4. Reasonable.

Bring baklava.

anyone done this proper?

The W111 5.0 Coupe requires a coolant flush which must be undertaken by a workshop with experience of the M100. The closest such workshop is in Marrickville. I have an appointment booked. Documentation will accompany the journey.

Boonie, your driveway is on the way back to Darlinghurst. I will not be calling in to your driveway. That would not be a repair. It would be a social visit and the order is explicit on social visits.

However if your driveway happens to be where my car develops a fault between Marrickville and Darlinghurst, that is a matter for the order to consider, not me.

I expect to see you Saturday at approximately 2 PM with the kettle on.

Boys. I have read this thread. I am going to leave it up because the substantive question about section 12 sub 4 is a legitimate one and members have a right to discuss the orders that apply to them.

I am noting on the record that the forum does not encourage members to manufacture vehicle faults for the purpose of meeting other members socially.

I am also noting that if the same fault appears to be developing across multiple members' vehicles simultaneously, this may attract attention.

Vasilios_Billy you have eight seperate "appointments" booked for the coming fortnight. Please consider this a friendly note.

Lefteris.

Each appointment is for a different vehicle owned by a different member with a different and demonstrable mechanical condition. I keep records. I have the records.

I would be happy to share the records with anyone making official inquiry.

Berny's W126 has the radiator weep. Chris's W111 has the noise. Boonie's 250SE has the warm-stall (continuing condition since August 2021). Hugo's coupe has the M100 coolant. Johnny's clients each have thier own valuation requirements.

Each visit will produce a documented repair record. The records are real because the repairs are real.

Whether the boys also drink coffee during the repair is not addressed in section 12 sub 4.

BRO.

Restrictions lifted today. We can stop pretending now.

Mum says the kettle is on. The actual kettle. For everyone.
