Hi all, anyone got some knowledge to share on the INAT 35/40 carbs on the M130's?

Looking for a good kit to sort out both carbs. Only dismantled one (to keep the other intact for reference for reassembly!) and it's mostly gunked up and smelly.

Noticed the gasket between float bowl housing and throttle plate is very thick which not all kits I found online included one of its girth. Also will need at least 4 throttle plate gaskets per carb to account for spacers (or make my own?). Diaphragms on the vacuum chamber seem to hold vac but may replace to be safe.

Long story short, anyone know what kit to order that'll do the job 🤣

Duncan.. first thing, M130 280S uses twin Solex 35/40 INATs, one carb per 3 cylinders. M116 V8 stuff is different jetting and float setting, dont buy the wrong kit.

Kits: Walker 159023 from USA, $78 US each carb, has the thick float bowl base gasket and the 4 throttle plate gaskets. about $260 the pair landed. Niemoeller 130 070 02 80 is EUR 54 each carb, more factory, paper gasket material. Royze NSW can sell individual gaskets if your only missing one.

The thick one is 1.5mm cork composite. dont substitute thinner or part throttle goes lean.

4 throttle plate gaskets per carb is correct. most kits ship 2, because apparently they hate us. vacuum diaphragms are cheap, EUR 8 each, just do them while its apart..

As it is a merc... yes.... billy's gasket explanation is correct. One thing I will add Duncan - when you dismantled one and kept the other for reference, that is exactly the right approach 🤭

The other thing the kits do not include is the FLOAT itself. The brass float can develop pinhole leaks after 55 years and the rebuild will work for 6 months then drown. Submerge your float in hot water for 30 seconds and watch for bubbles. If you see bubbles the float is leaking. New float Niemoeller 130 071 00 70 €38 each. Buy now before you re-fit 😋

Billy, Wilfried - thank you both. Ordering the Niemoeller kit pair $175, plus 2 new floats (one tested leaky as Wilfried predicted), plus 4 extra throttle plate gaskets from Royze. Total $320 the pair done properly.

will report back after the weekend..
