I'm trying to identify the name of the pipe on Pelican Parts that goes between the rocker cover and air filter of my 280s. It's been running ok with this filter on the motor but it's not ideal. Are there any reasons why the previous owner might have deleted it? Thanks

W108 280S air filter housing with breather port circled and aftermarket filter on the rocker cover

You can see in the photo - the air filter housing has an orange-plastic plug where the breather hose should be connected, and the rocker cover has an aftermarket K&N type filter sitting on top instead of going to the air filter housing.

James - thats crankcase ventilation hose, Pelican calls it Engine Vent Hose. M130 W108 280S rubber elbow from rocker cover / oil filler tube boss to air filter housing.

Part number 130 010 23 82 for 1965-1972 M130 family.

Previous owner deleted it because the rubber elbow weeps oil mist when old. then they plug the air filter and put a little vent filter on the rocker cover. engine runs but vents oil mist into bay and fails HVS visual if anyone cares.

Correct fix: new elbow, $48Mercedes Australia or $32 Pelican plus freight. pull orange plug from air filter. K&N thing goes in bin. 20 minute job..

I have.Billy is right. Also when you remove the orange plug check the inside of the air filter housing for oil sludge. If there is sludge clean it before reconnecting or the new rubber gets coated immediately.Use degreaser and a rag.westsydneyrestorationsbuilds.on facebook

Billy, Viktor - thank you both. Ordered the elbow from Pelican Parts last night ($32 + freight). Will fit when it arrives, clean the housing with degreaser as Viktor said, bin the K&N. Will report back.

This forum is gold.
