S124 wagon third-row rear-facing seat - the cushion has split - where to find replacement upholstery

having a look at this tomrrow.

1990 300TE wagon (S124). The third row rear-facing seat (the one in the boot floor that flips up) has had its cushion vinyl split. Foam underneath is fine.

Looking for either replacement upholstery panels in the correct vinyl pattern, or a reproduction cover i can have a trimmer fit. The trimmer in Banksia Park can do the work if i bring him the materials.

The S124 third-row seat upholstery is the same vinyl/cloth pattern as the second-row in the same car.. the third-row seat was offered in MB-Tex only (no fabric or leather options on the third-row).

OE-equivalent MB-Tex in the correct era pattern is supplied by GMK Australia (Sydney) on rolls. Approximately $65 per metre. You will need about 1.5 metres for the third-row cushion. Total about $100 for material.

The colour-match to your 30+ year original is approximate not exact. The original has 30 years of UV fading; the new material is the original factory colour. Plan to either (a) fit the new cushion and let the contrast be visible, (b) ask the trimmer to re-cover the second-row at the same time to keep visual consistency, or (c) source a second-hand third-row from a wreck with similar fade level.

Wreck option: there is a 1989 200TE in Geoff Panton Hill's yard with intact third-row upholstery (last I checked, 2019). Worth a call. Approximately $80 for the cushion if it is still available.

Vasilios cheers. mrs B has decided on the new MB-Tex even with the colour mismatch. Trimmer can do it in 2 weeks for $240 labour. Total $340. Worth it.
