small question.

1969 280SL Pagoda. Hardtop on for winter. Wet weekend just gone and water is pooling on the carpet behind the drivers seat. Hardtop seals the obvious suspect.

Where is everyone getting the rear quarter seals in 2019. Stuttgart Classic Centre lists them but stock is in and out. Heard of two blokes in WA doing reproductions but quality is hit and miss.

Chris.. sodisol Berlin (Bezugsquelle reference 113-rep-seals-DE-002) reproduces the W113 hardtop seal kit to the original Mercedes-Benz specification. Price about EUR 480 for the full kit, shipping to Australia EUR 90. Quality is OE-equivalent. ive used them on three cars..

Avoid the WA reproductions you mentioned. The EPDM compound they use is not UV-stable. They look correct on installation and fail within 18 months.

Sodisol is the right answer.. allow 4-6 weeks lead time even when stock is shown as available - they batch-produce..

One more thing for installation. The rear quarter seal seats on a chrome strip that is itself held by 4 screws under the headliner. Do not just glue the new seal to the old strip. Pull the strip, clean it, check for corrosion under the headliner, then refit. Otherwise you will have the same leak in two years from the strip not the seal.

Ordered. EUR 480 + EUR 90 = about $920 landed. Painful but cheaper than replacing the carpet a second time.

Hugo the chrome strip note is gold. Pulled mine this weekend - there is corrosion under it I would of missed. Plenty of work to do before the seals arrive.
