W116 6.9 hydropneumatic pump rebuild - is anyone in Australia still doing them now

this might be dumb.

Mate of mine has a 450SEL 6.9, 1976, Bondi Junction. Hydropneumatic pump has shit itself. Second time in 11 years. First one was rebuilt by some bloke in Melbourne who has since closed up shop.

Is anyone in Australia still rebuilding the M100-driven hydropneumatic pump now? Stuttgart Classic Centre quoted him EUR 4,200 + shipping which is going to be 7 grand by the time it lands. Looking for an Aussie option if there is one.

Chris. honest answer for 2019.. one bloke in Australia still rebuilds 6.9 hydropneumatic pumps properly.

Ex Mercedes-Benz Sydney master tech, retired 2018, shed in Bargo. no ads, no walk-ins, 8 month wait. about $3,800 with OEM seals from Stuttgart. cheaper then Stuttgart once shipping and the exchange rate kick you.

Only 6.9 pump. not standard W116 450SE pump. ask wrong and he hangs up..

He did a pump for one of my client's W116 6.9s in 2017, silver / black 6.9 in my profile garage. 18 months later still in spec for pressure and accumulator response. work holds up..

Stuttgart gives 2-year warranty. Bargo gives 12 months, but zero failures from about 22 6.9 rebuilds since 2003 says more then the paper.

Mate is patient and will wait the 8 months. He has the rest of the car booked in for a respray at the same time so he is happy to take the car off the road for 9 months and do everything together.

For anyone searching this in future: Bargo, referral only, no cold contact, $3,800, 8 month queue. Worth it.
