putting this here.

1985 500SEC. Cruise has been intermittent for 6 months and last week died completely. Diagnosed by elimination as the cruise control card (the electronic control module, MB part A 116 584 00 26).

I remember someone listed an NOS one in the Buy/Sell archive years back. I think pre-ASIC. Anyone remember if it sold?

Refurb specialists now: I am aware of one in Adelaide who does electronic repair on the cruise card but his turnaround is 12 weeks and he charges $480 for the rebuild.

Chris..

Yes.. i remember the one. Perth dealer parts cleanout, three cards, old Buy/Sell archive. no point trusting the old photos now anyway.

Listed $320 each from memory. All three sold within 14 days. Two went to NSW W126 owners, one to a Sydney specialist for stock. I do not know who has what now.

Dieter at Henley Beach is the right call now. $480 and 12 weeks is fair. The card rarely fails completely - most common failure is a capacitor on the analog filter stage (C7 or C14 depending on batch). Dieter recaps the whole card with modern equivalents. Send it via Aus Post with tracking, he will get it back to you the day it is done.

I have used Dieter for two W126 cruise cards (2021 and 2018). Both functioned to original specification post-rebuild. His warranty is 24 months which is generous for the work.

For Chris - send the card to Dieter, fit a known-good substitute card for the 12 weeks if you must have cruise, then refit on return. There is a known-good loan-pool managed informally through this forum but stocks are limited.

I have a known-good A1165840026 in my parts drawer. Took it out of the 380SEL when I upgraded to the later Mk2 cruise. Chris welcome to borrow it for the 12 weeks Dieter has yours. Bring it back when you have your own card. Free, between mates. Steve woulda done the same.
