Wade - the bushes visible in your photoss are the W108 throttle linkage rod bushes. The two specific items:

  • Linkage rod ball-cup bush (the dark grommet visible at the rod end in your close-up): Mercedes-Benz part number 108 991 00 51. $14 each, you typically need 4 across the full linkage (2 at the carb end, 2 at the throttle pedal end).
  • Linkage rod centre bush (the larger white/grey insulator visible at the mid-rod support bracket): Mercedes-Benz part number 108 991 02 51. $22 each, 1 per car.

Australian sources:

  • McStarparts Sydney (Mac, 0418 636 ***) - stocks both items in genuine Mercedes-Benz packaging. Total for the throttle linkage refresh $78. Pickup or post.
  • Mercedes-Benz Australia - both items genuine NOS, total $124.
  • Niemoeller Germany - €38 the lot, $65 landed with 4-week shipping.

I do these on every W108 service - 50+ year old rubber gets brittle and the throttle develops slop at the pedal that drives most owners mad before they identify the cause. $78 the lot is the right answer.

Billy - calling Mac in the morning. Slop at the pedal exactly describes it. Cheers..
